🚀 Welcome to my project!

Ever wanted to catch a glimpse of the International Space Station as it passes by overhead

📜 What it does:

Catch a glimpse of ISS with automated SMS notifications, so u never miss an opportunity to see it again

Our ISS Tracker uses the user's current location to determine when the International Space Station is visible from their location. The user enters their phone number, and our program automatically sends them a text message when the ISS is in their vicinity.

🚀

How I built it:

Our team used Python to build the ISS Tracker. We used the Open Notify API to retrieve the location of the ISS, and the Twilio API to send SMS messages to users. We also implemented a scheduling system to ensure that users are only notified during daylight hours when the ISS is visible.

🌎

Challenges I ran into:

One of the biggest challenges we faced was accurately retrieving the user's location. We had to ensure that our program worked for both desktop and mobile users, and that it could handle different types of devices and operating systems. We also had to ensure that our program worked reliably in all weather conditions and geographic locations.

🎉

Accomplishments that I'm proud of:

We are proud of our team's ability to create a functional and user-friendly ISS Tracker in just one weekend. We were able to incorporate a variety of APIs and programming languages into our project, and we were able to overcome a number of technical and logistical challenges along the way.

📚

What I learned:

Through this project, we learned the importance of effective communication and collaboration in a team setting. We also gained valuable experience working with APIs and integrating multiple programming languages into a single project.

What's next for ISS Tracker:

Moving forward, we plan to continue developing the ISS Tracker and adding new features, such as real-time tracking of the ISS and live video feeds of the station. We also hope to expand our user base and make our program available to more people around the world, so that everyone can experience the wonder of the International Space Station.
